Villages of Luberon
If you are fond of rural architecture you will be spoilt for choice in the Luberon, where almost countless villages and hamlets have been built, centuries ago, on the numerous hills which characterise the region.
Dating back to the Middle Ages, many of the villages, such as Gordes, Ménerbes, Oppède-le-Vieux were built on hilltops ; often dramatically perched atop narrow strips of land, they command superb views over the area.
