castel of lauris luberon

One of the Luberon's perched villages, it dominates the Durance valley and is surrounded by vines and olive trees. Lauris illustrates perfectly the eternal Provence of yesteryear, with its stone fountains, narrow streets and traditional feasts, such as the Fête de la Coucourde, its historical reconstitutions and tableaux vivants...

What to see and visit: the old village; the seventeenth and eighteenth-century fountains; the church, which was rebuilt in 1702 on the foundations of a fifteenth-century chapel; the wrought-iron campanile built in 1857, the castle, which was rebuilt in the eighteenth century on the ruins of a medieval fortress.
Activities available: hiking, equestrian, archery.

Provençal market: Monday morning. Organic market every Saturday afternoon. Christmas market on the first Saturday in December.
